The Peter Principle is bogus.
BOGUS. Here's why:
-fixed mindset
-doesn't help anyone
-leaves the problem unresolved
The Peter Principle states “People are promoted to their level of incompetence”. Harsh.
That statement makes me feel gross. But I never knew why.
I've figured it out.
It’s a bland, boring and insulting statement masked as intellectual superiority. It offers no help and no hope.
Instead: We rise to our level of ability to build systems. You will flail and burn out when failing to build systems that deliver value.
Success = building systems. She who builds the biggest system across the largest group wins the prize.
Success follows repeatable, robust and scalable systems.
Effective people create systems for themselves. Want to be a lead? Scale your system to the team.
-Leads build systems for IC’s
-Managers build systems for Leads
-Executives build systems for Managers
Want more success? Focus on building repeatable systems that deliver more output than required input.
That's something I can get behind.
Business leaders, entrepreneurs, managers, executives, athletes, military generals - virtually every successful person in the world found ways to build systems for people, products or organizations.
And if you fail - which you might - it's because you haven't yet figured out how to systemize success at your level. Figure out the system that needs fixed or implemented.
I never read The Peter Principle. But if it’s your thing here’s an affiliate link to check it out on Amazon.
